I don't see Nissan, Toyato, or Hyandai looking for a handout. It is reckoning time and the writing has been on the wall for years. They had been forwarned and failed to heed the warning. The ripple affect WILL be devastating, but in the end, maybe they will learn to build a better mouse trap. The two things the auto industry doesn't have: hindsight or foresight.

Re: The Auto Industry Has a Rich History of Failure

Ryan, I do remember the Talon, many of them could be found around my home town of La Crosse, Wisconsin during the 1990s. I think it may have been due to Greg Kinnear working as the spokesman for Eagle for a couple years. His star-power can't be underestimated!

Re: The Auto Industry Has a Rich History of Failure

Some prime examples of people who don't learn from history. They warned them to stop making those stupid SUV's.

Re: The Auto Industry Has a Rich History of Failure

You know the Talon, (aka Laser or Eclipse) was made by DSM, Diamond Star Motors. That company was a joint effort by Mitsubishi and Chrysler. The 1st and 2nd generation (spare the Laser) of those 3 cars were very successful. The brand and partnership just went away. Also, the cars were very fun to drive, I had a 92.
